'mini make-over'

A neglected overgrown space intended to encourage wildlife has been transformed, now more accessible to our feathered friends who can be easily viewed from the comfort of an armchair on rainy days!
'Before'
So eager to start we forgot to take a completely 'before' picture, when the space was very overgrown! So satisfying pulling out all the old nettles & ivy, but conscious to leave some of the ivy for the wildlife!
'After'
A mini rustic country park feel to the space...
A minimalistic bespoke bird table was made, for easy reach & practical with matching picket fence to line the mini path to the stone bench...
Sleeper steps & graduated sleeper wall makes easier access to the compost bin, which is softened/disguised by the willow fencing...
Trimming back & shaping the lilac creates a subtle canopy...
Phase 1 & 2 link beautifully together seamlessly flowing into each other...
We recently discovered 'Rainbow Smooth Paving Stone' & love it! Buying broken slabs for crazy paving....
The hellebores will create an array of colour during the colder months & wall flowers, with their beautiful scent snug into the sloped bed...
A wonderful selection of vegetables were planted in clearly defined sections within the sleeper bed (completed in Phase 1) that will provide a tasty crop! Also the addition of two abelias with their variegated leaves, which will also provide further scent to this part of the garden in spring/summer; along with all the other scented varieties chosen in Phase 1!
