'Front Garden'

mini-makeover

‘My front garden was looking decidedly tired, with old, badly shaped shrubs and some perennials, which never seemed to do anything.  I saw the Haven Spaces post on a local website and so I asked whether my job would be too small for them.  Andy and Lou came and looked at the garden and were able to fit a makeover in around other jobs.   They came back with a design that included some really innovative proposals, including a tweak to the lawn to make it easier to cut around the edges and a brilliant solution to a block and brick compost bin to turn it into an elevated rose bed with a pergola to support climbing roses.  Their suggestions for planting were really over my head, but they had taken into account the shady location and the local soil type.  The results show that they certainly know what they are doing!  Lou and Andy decided to keep a couple of shrubs but shaped them properly before the other plants arrived.  The garden looked fantastic as soon as they had finished and it has looked better and better as the plants have matured and flowered.  It is now a real pleasure to turn in off the road and passers-by often stop for a look. I am delighted with the result and with the way in which Lou and Andy undertook the project.  I would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone wanting to rejuvenate an existing garden or have a new garden designed’.
