'design & build'
'Andy and Lou were recommended by another gardener, and we’re so pleased we found them! They were brilliant with the design process; they produced a very detailed sketch (we love it so much we had it laminated) which enabled us to “walk through” their plans for our new garden. They took into account my husband’s disability and the fact that he needs a wheelchair friendly design, they listened carefully to what we wanted and what we liked, and made constructive and helpful suggestions. Neither of us are garden designers, so to have someone so responsive to our needs, and the imagination and skill to put what’s on paper into the real thing, is perfect. We couldn't wait for them to get started!'

It was so refreshing to meet Jean & Roger who share a love & passion for plants and gardening, who also can't resist buying just another plant or two, or three or four... Having a large pallet of existing plants to use for this design and some left over paving materials was a lovely challenge to have!
‘We are absolutely thrilled with our brand new garden; it was ready & waiting for us upon our return from holiday and we couldn’t have wished for a more wonderful welcome home! The paths are easily accessible for Rogers wheelchair & the raised beds are a perfect height for him (and me!) The planting is inspired; Lou & Andy certainly have a way with plants! They have worked tirelessly & cheerfully and we would thoroughly recommend Haven Spaces. We thank them, including Niles, who was patient, well behaved and very entertaining!”

From a boring lifeless garden to a new space full of colour, texture and intriguing shapes...
A contrast of materials; using surplus block paving that nestles against the mosaic crazy paving shades, which both transition from the existing paving around the shed....
Bespoke wooden vertical planters were made by Haven Spaces to maximise planting, painted in a colour that the shed apex will eventually be. The shed will be painted a shade lighter than the wall, so it integrates into the overall scheme...
Block curved paving twists around where 3 small cobbled paths leads through the borders for easy access for Jean to maintain the plants, but equally provides a choice of route to the tear drop patio that snuggles against the pond, or to access the compost bin and finally back to the bungalow.....
A cherry tree is now framed by a swirl of 'rainbow stones' and the bed provides further planting space with access all around...
A sweeping expanse of block paving and natural stone laying harmoniously together...
Whichever level you view the garden, whether standing, sitting or in Rogers case 'free wheeling' around the garden, you experience something different!
Niles also loved being on this particular project, especially as he could venture out the back gate and into the spinney!
A trip to the compost bin is a joy!
A great example of how 4 materials can sit so comfortably together, which is repeated in different forms around the garden...
